On April 26th, the 2022 National Peanut Planting Mechanization Field Demonstration and Technical Training Activities jointly organized by China Agricultural Machinery Circulation Association, Expert Group on Whole Process Mechanization of Crops, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural, Ministry of Agriculture Qingdao Agricultural Technology Extension Center, etc. were held in Pingdu city, the “hometown of peanuts in China”, aiming at promoting the whole mechanization of peanut production through offline and live broadcast in the cloud.

Peanut is the most competitive high-quality oil crop in China in the world. In recent years, peanut planting mechanization has developed rapidly, and the main links have basically been mechanized, but there are still some problems such as low operating efficiency, which also brings a broad space for further accelerating the research and development and application of peanut production agricultural machinery and equipment.

The event was held offline and broadcast live in the cloud, and the online audience reached more than 20,000 people. These new equipment and technologies demonstrated the cutting-edge technology of peanut production, attracting frequent praise from netizen. At the same time, experts from the expert guidance group of  Whole Process Mechanization of Crops, Ministry of Agriculture and rural, and agricultural machinery post experts of Shandong Peanut Industry Technology System gave on-the-spot explanations on peanut mechanization sowing technology, answered questions from netizen in detail, and had a warm online and offline interaction.

Qingdao peanut has an annual planting area of about 1.1 million mu and a total output of about 360,000 tons. It is an important commodity oil production base in China. It is reported that Qingdao has completed the spring sowing area of 910,000 square meters. In early May, Qingdao will start planting peanuts on a large scale. By then, mechanization will become an important way to plant peanuts. At present, Qingdao has formed a complete mechanized peanut production mode, which can save 20% labor cost and increase 8% per mu yield. In 2021, the mechanized planting area of peanut in the city was 1,026,500 mu, accounting for 93.4% of the total planting area, the comprehensive mechanization rate of plough, cultivate and harvest has reached over 85.3%.
